News & Updates

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, fraud attempts are on the rise. To protect your account and your identity, please keep the following tips in mind:

How to Avoid COVID-19 Scams

  • Don’t respond to texts, emails or calls about checks from the government.
  • Do not fall for employment "opportunities" that provide payment upfront, usually in the form of a check, then ask you to return a portion of the funds either in cash or gift cards.
  • Ignore online offers for vaccinations. There are no products proven to treat or prevent COVID-19 at this time.
  • Be wary of ads for test kits.  Most test kits being advertised have not been approved by the FDA.
  • Hang up on robocalls. Scammers are using illegal robocalls to pitch everything from low-priced health insurance to work-at-home schemes.
  • Watch for emails claiming to be from the CDC or WHO, and don’t click on links from sources you don’t know.
  • Do your homework when it comes to donations. Never donate in cash, by gift card, or by wiring money.

How to Safeguard your Account

  • Don't give out personal information over the phone or by email
  • Keep your login credentials secure
  • Be wary of shared computers and public Wi-Fi
  • Stay informed with eAlerts
